Who runs the regions?

We have Sports Chaplains serving right across Aotearoa, from Northland to the deep south, offering care, support, and a listening ear to those involved in sport at every level. Behind them stands a passionate and committed team of Regional Leaders who provide local oversight, encouragement, and guidance for the Sports Chaplains in their area.

Our Regional Leaders are the heartbeat of Sports Chaplaincy in their areas. They identify and recruit new Sports Chaplains, guide them through training, appoint them into suitable roles, and provide ongoing pastoral support. It’s a hands-on, relational role walking alongside chaplains at every stage, from those just starting out to those navigating the challenges of long-term ministry.

Their work also extends into the wider community. Regional Leaders connect with local churches, sports clubs, and organisations, raising awareness of Sports Chaplaincy and how it brings hope into everyday sporting spaces. They regularly speak at churches and team events, sharing stories, casting vision, and pointing others to the power of presence, compassion, and faith.

Northern Region

Northern is covered by two Regional Leaders: Jacolize Becker for Auckland North and we are currently looking for someone to look after Auckland South.

From Auckland to the far North, our Northern region is full of sporting passion and diversity. Our team of Sports Chaplains walk alongside athletes, coaches, and clubs in one of Aotearoa’s most vibrant and fast-paced sporting environments.
